What is vitamin D?

In medical terms, calciferol is one of the types of vitamins that dissolve in fat and are stored in the liver and fat tissue. It is divided into two types: D2 and D3. Vitamin D, which is taken from the sun and nutrients, undergoes changes in the liver and kidneys and turns into a more effective chemical.

What are the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency in babies?

Vitamin D deficiency affects all systems of the body and invites many diseases. Today's living conditions, working in closed environments, not doing enough outdoor activities, and inadequate nutrition increase vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D deficiency is a factor that affects every age group and causes important health problems.

Vitamin D Supplement for Babies

The most ideal food for babies is breast milk, but breastfed babies should be given vitamin D supplements shortly after birth. Although formula-fed babies receive vitamin D supplements from formula, studies show that this may not be enough. As a result, if the baby consumes less than 1 liter of formula per day, they should also be given vitamin D supplements. The daily requirement is 400 IU.
